Bosch: Legacy is a continuation of the Prime Video series Bosch, which ran for seven seasons. The spin-off series kept a lot of characters on, with Harry Bosch once again taking the lead as Harry Bosch, who is now a private investigator after leaving the LAPD, and Honey Chandler is back in a more prominent role this time around. Maddie Bosch also returns in a bigger role but no mention is made of where her longtime boyfriend, Antonio Valens went after the end of Bosch season 7.
Amazon Freevee is the home of Bosch: Legacy and the ad-based streaming video service has aired two seasons of the spin-off crime series thus far, with a third season on the way. Many of the supporting characters have returned for guest appearances, but there are others that haven’t returned with no explanation given. Maddie Bosch had a couple of boyfriends in the original show, but Antonio was her most promising one, so where did he go?

Who is Antonio in Bosch?
Number of Episodes
Bosch Season 6: Episode 1: The Overlook Episode 4: Part of the Deal Episode 7: Hard Feelings Season 7 Episode 1: Brazen Episode 3: Sabes Demasiado Episode 4: Triple Play Episode 5: Jury’s Still Out Episode 6: The Greater Good Episode 7: Workaround Episode 8: Por Sonia
Antonio Valens was a recurring character in Bosch and he first appeared in season 6 and was in seven of the eight episode run of season 7 as well. He is a pediatric nurse who is dating Maddie Bosch in the series, and they had been dating for two years, and it seemed to be Maddie’s most stable relationship.
Not much is known about his life prior to dating Maddie, but he was always a very supportive boyfriend to her and seemed to want to take the relationship to the next level. He was also a brave man as he was very interested in meeting Maddie’s intimidating father, Harry Bosch. The big storyline he was involved with in Season 7 was the mysterious disease that was being talked about at the hospital where he worked. This was the show acknowledging the real life situation of the pandemic, but the season ended before the virus took hold. By the time Bosch: Legacy began, the pandemic was well and truly over and there was no further mention of it or of Antonio for that matter.
What happens to Antonio?
The answer to that question is unknown, as Antonio and Maddie were still together when the final season of Bosch ended, but he doesn’t appear in Bosch: Legacy and no mention is made of him. Obviously, they clearly ended their relationship as he’s not around anymore, and Maddie starts dating fellow officer, Rico Perez in Bosch: Legacy season 2.
There is a chance he’s still a pediatric nurse in Los Angeles, or maybe he moved somewhere else to take up a new job, and this is why the relationship broke down because Maddie was set on joining the LAPD as a rookie cop. Regardless of what happened, it feels necessary to mention where he went and why things ended with Maddie at some point in the spin-off show.
Will Antonio appear in Bosch: Legacy?
It is more than possible that Antonio could return in Bosch: Legacy season 3 as he is still alive in the universe. However, his re-appearance would have to be facilitated by the plot, and it appears Maddie has moved on with her life now since the end of their relationship. She would undoubtedly be the link that would potentially bring him back into the fold as she was the main character he had interactions with.
With all that happened to Maddie Bosch in season 2 of Bosch Legacy, it feels like she could really benefit from a supportive relationship, and it was clear Rico wasn’t the right man for her, as that relationship soon fell by the wayside. Maddie could find out, like her father Harry Bosch did, that being married to a job in the LAPD can have a devastating effect on personal relationships. Antonio was quite possibly the first victim of Maddie’s new career as a police officer and that is why he had to go.
Who played Antonio in Bosch?
Jonny Rios is the actor who portrays Antonio Valends in Bosch, and he’s relatively new to the industry, with only a few credits to his name. Before appearing as Maddie’s boyfriend in Bosch, he played Ravi Jerome in six episodes of the Netflix hit show, Chambers. The ten-episode series was about a woman who survives a heart transplant which leads her to developing different personality traits. The series only ran for one season, but it was popular with fans and critics alike.Rios has also guest starred in an episode of NCIS and quite a few short movies. There is definitely more to come from this talented actor, and a reappearance as Antonio Valens in Bosch: Legacy would be welcomed.
