Why Bloodborne Remake as a PS6 Launch Title Makes Sense

Highlights

  • Bloodborne’s immersive setting of Yharnam has left a lasting impression on fans, making a remake highly anticipated, if not yet confirmed.
  • The launch of the PS6 would be a more appropriate time for a Bloodborne remake, as the PS5 is probably already halfway through its life cycle.
  • A Bloodborne remake for the PS6 would elevate the game’s visuals to the highest possible degree and generate additional hype for the console’s launch thanks to its persisting popularity.

Despite being almost nine years old now, FromSoftware’s Bloodborne remains relevant. This is mainly due to its lasting impression on fans, thanks to the developer creating one of the most memorable and immersive settings in video game history. Many feel that Bloodborne‘s stunningly dark, Lovecraftian setting of Yharnam is in need of a face lift, by way of a remake, but despite this feeling like a good idea on paper, fans may need to wait a little longer until it becomes reality. The launch of the PS6, whenever that may be, would be a much more appropriate time for such a project to see the light of day.

It seems crazy to even be talking about the PS6 when it feels like the PS5 hasn’t even reached the peak of its powers yet. The truth of the matter is that if previous generations are anything to go by, then the PS5 is probably halfway through its life cycle already. While that would indicate that the best of this generation is probably yet to come, it does mean that, slowly but surely, it becomes time to wonder what the launch of the PS6 will entail. A huge exclusive remake such as Bloodborne would ensure the next generation starts with a bang.

The PS6 Will Look to Push Boundaries Even Further

Having a strong lineup of games can really help a console’s launch to be memorable, and set things off on the right foot. The PS5 didn’t have a particularly big selection of launch titles, but it did include a couple of really strong exclusives in Marvel’s Spider-Man Miles Morales and Demon’s Souls. The latter was a remake of FromSoftware’s 2009 PS3 game of the same name, this time developed by Bluepoint Games, and it faithfully recreated everything that made the original game so special.

Such was the stellar job it did with Demon’s Souls, it would make a lot of sense to give the project to Bluepoint Games, should a Bloodborne remake indeed come to fruition. Dropping this remake as a PS6 launch title would generate an incredible amount of additional hype around an event that would already be highly anticipated. As well as Bloodborne‘s gameplay holds up today, its frame rate stutters at 30fps, and its textures and character models are also beginning to show their age.

The PS6, which would presumably be the most powerful game console in existence at that point, would be the perfect vehicle to bring this project to life. While some already consider it to be among the finest games ever made, bringing Bloodborne‘s visuals up to the same bar set by its gameplay would elevate it to new heights. While fans can probably expect the PS6 to launch sometime around 2027/2028, for many this will feel like too long of a wait for new Bloodborne content. It’s important to note that this is pure speculation though, and nothing concrete about any new Bloodborne project has been announced, despite FromSoftware reportedly working on multiple as-yet-unnamed projects.
